Invented in 1842 by Sir John Hershel, known at the time as an
astronomer and scientist,
also the discoverer of sodium thiosulphate which has always
been known as an effective
fixer.
The cyanotype print is purely iron-based and with this chemistry, when
mixed, has excellent light sensitive properties. The result, after exposure
and processing, is a rich and beautiful prussian blue colour, which is
perfect with all kinds of images.
(The image lasts as long as the paper it's printed on).
